The MHT building really needs WiFi on the third floor.
Currently there is no official WiFi service on the third floor of the MHT building. I haven't checked if it is available on any of the other floors.
I'm a workshop demonstrator (and MSc student) and it really pains me to see students attempting to rip network cables out of the back of our brand new Dell XPS machines. These have got to last us many years and they'll be knackered pretty quickly if this behaviour continues.
It seems a logical solution would be to provide a WiFi service that at least covers the labs on this floor. Obviously there is no reason why students shouldn't be able to use their own laptops but messing around with the current network cabling is not the ideal way to do it - more often than not the cables are getting damaged and are often not plugged back into the XPS machines after use.
Apologies if this topic has already been covered!

Inappropriate? There's a big improvement to WiFi provision in the pipeline, including (theoretically) blanket coverage of the Brayford campus. I'll try rustle up some more details on what and when.

Excellent, it is really nice to see active improvements in response to feedback, great work! -
Inappropriate?Early in the new year ICT will be talking to all depts about WiFi requirements and coming up with a WiFi solution covering all areas. I will be pushing for MHT area so any news I get I will share. There is 1 Wifi spot on the ground floor near the Siren studio, you can also pick up the WiFi from the EMMTEC but only on the far side of the building on the EMMTEC side.
