Portal requires multiple logins
Whenever I log into the Portal using Google Chrome, I am asked to login multiple times. It looks like certain content, such as images, are being served from a different connection and each image requires me to authenticate in order for it to display.

Hi Joss,
I can't repeat this, is there a specific section of the Portal that this definitely happens or is it just on login? I do occasionally have problems when opening a Portal link from Outlook Web Access and it requires me to put network\ in front of my username.
Either way I'll let Dave Raines know to see if he can fix it somehow. -

I think that it's AdBlock, which I have installed on Chrome and Firefox. I've added an exclusion to the AdBlock options. That appears to have fixed it but I'll know for sure when my login times out. I'll let you know. p.s. is there a way to log out of the Portal?

Like Outlook Web Access you can only properly sign out of Sharepoint on IE... This should be fixed for Portal when it's moved to version 2007 (it's currently v2003)

The problem remains. Despite turning off AdBlock, I still can't login to the Portal (or rather it works sometimes and then it doesn't work...)

Chrome works fine for me, 6.0.472.63. As is Firefox 3.5.10

Yes, it's hit and miss, Matt. Try using the portal only through Chrome for two or three days and I bet you will hit "the wall".

Could it be to do with Chrome and Firefox not passing domain credentials by default, whereas IE does?

I’m
confused
I've just experienced the same problem now on Chrome 7.0.544 and IE 8. Nothing is currently letting me into the Portal no matter how many times I enter the username and password. I'm off campus, but I can sign into - for example - Outlook Web Access. -

Apologies if I'm teaching you to suck eggs, but are you including the domain details with your username? So in the username field typing either network.uni\dyoung or dyoung@network.uni? You can get into Outlook Web Access with just your username, but you need the domain details for portal access.

Thanks. I'll try that, but I never include the domain details normally and use the Portal regularly. I thought that was only for Windows/IE based computers. Using only my username jwinn has always worked until recently and now only works some of the time.

Ditto Joss. I've accessed the Portal off-campus many times in the past without my domain details. Didn't try them last night but will try that next time I'm at home.
