Slow PC Performance
I was in the library this afternoon and shocked how slow the computers were... I am not sure if it was an isolated problem or a problem with university's ICT network. However, I only had three internet explorer windows open and the computer's processor usage was at 100%!!! Surely it shouldn't be for 3 windows?!?
One other question... how come not all of the computers have been upgraded in the library???

Inappropriate?Next time you are in the library, and have a similar problem, try contacting the IT service desk, (open from 09:00 - 18:45 Monday to Thursday, 10:00 -16:45 Friday and Saturday and 12:00 - 16:45 Sunday), an engineer will then be able to determine the cause of the problem, as it does sound like an isolated incident.
ICT use a rolling replacement programme to upgrade the PCs in the University; this includes upgrading, and replacing equipment.
This summer the ICT department replaced around eighty of the oldest PCs in the library, upgraded the memory for all library PCs to a minimum of 1Gb of RAM and replaced all the old MACs, with new ones.
