A comment on the idea "Automatically shut down/suspend idle PCs at night." in University of Lincoln:
The current release only allows us to set a single action which can be whatever we want it to be (shutdown/hibernate/sleep/nothing). However the next version (which is expected around Easter) does include time bound policies which would enable different actions depending on the time of day. – Leigh Haynes, on February 17, 2010 13:25

As promised I am reporting back with an update on progress.
ICT Services have trialled and selected some advanced power management software called PowerMAN. The software has been deployed to all Windows Corporate Desktop PCs and is currently operating in monitoring only mode. As an initial step, ICT Services will soon activate a non-intrusive “No User” policy which will turn off computers when nobody is logged on (after 15 minutes of inactivity). This low impact policy should achieve significant energy savings without disrupting any user activity.
